Development & Fundraising Study

Studio U was commissioned to undertake a development and fundraising study for a proposed pediatric facility at New Chenla Hospital in Kratie, Cambodia.

​

During an initial site visit, we identified an alternative plot containing two mature shade trees. Relocating the facility created a central courtyard and outdoor play space for children and families, while also providing direct out-of-hours ambulance access from a side street to the Emergency Department and reducing pressure on the hospital's main entrance.

The two-storey facility was designed around a landscaped courtyard, bringing daylight, natural ventilation, and nature into the heart of the building. The study included detailed planning, structural engineering coordination, soil investigation, preliminary cost planning, and provision for future vertical expansion.
